Biography
Moshe Mokady, Painter, Stage Designer. b. 1902, Tarnow, Poland. Immigrated 1920. Studies: Vienna and Zurich, art and music. Teaching: Art and music, Haifa; 1952-65 Director of Avni Institute, Tel Aviv. Prizes: 1937, 1942, 1950-51 Dizengoff Prize. 1927-30 Lived in Paris. 1949 First art adviser to Ministry of Education and Culture. A founder of the Artists Village, Ein Hod, where he lived from 1965 until his death. Selected Exhibitions: 1952, 1958 Biennale, Venice and 1955 Sao Paulo; solo - 1932, 1939, 1949, 1954, 1958, 1962, 2000 Tel Aviv Museum. Died 1975. (The Israel Museum in Jerusalem Web Site)
