Biography
Russian Painter. Born in 1963 to a Jewish father. Samsonov joined the primary Art School of Voronej at the age of 10 where he graduated with honors in 1980. He became a teacher of drawing in Saint Petersburg in a primary school. From 1990 to 1996 he studied in Academy of Fine Art of I. E. Repine. He was invited to participate in an exhibition of Russian Artists organized in Paris in 1992. His paintings had tremendous success and he was invited again to France during the summer of 1993. He stayed in Provence and continued to spend every summer in France from where he participated in numerous exhibitions in France, Germany and Italy. The artist resided in St. Petersburg and has gained international recognition for his work. He is considered one of the most skilful contemporary artists of the Famous St. Petersburg School.
